Daikin Airconditioning Central Europe to acquire Hungarian Applied System Distributor & Service Company

On September 1st 2008, Daikin Airconditioning Central Europe HandelsgmbH, headquartered in Vienna, Austria, has acquired 100% of the shares of McQuay-Szanyó Klimatechnika Korlátolt Felelősségű Társaság and SZANYÓ Szerviz Hűtő-és Klímaberendezés Karbantartó és Szolgáltató Korlátolt Felelősségű Társaság, both headquartered in Budapest, Hungary. Daikin AC Central Europe is a fully-owned subsidiary of Daikin Europe N.V, headquartered in Belgium, who is a 100% owned subsidiary of Daikin Industries Ltd. headquartered in Osaka, Japan.
McQuay-Szanyo and Szanyo Szerviz are engaged in the Hungarian sales & service of McQuay products and will be integrated into the strong organisation of Daikin Central Europe.
Daikin strongly believes that the acquisition, while strengthening Daikin’s offering & market presence in the Hungarian market, will also enable both Daikin and McQuay to further enhance their strengths and to address the upcoming challenges by complementing one another.
1. Synergies related to product line and sales network
The acquisition of both companies will contribute significantly to the execution of Daikin’s strategy to expand its applied systems’ business alongside its other strategic business pillars of air conditioning, heating and refrigeration.
Daikin is strong in products and technologies in the ductless direct expansion
air-conditioning segment, especially in high value-added air-conditioning. McQuay-Szanyo is strong in products/technologies and service engineering in the applied systems segment.
The process will combine Daikin's highly advanced technologies, McQuay-Szanyo’s high quality applied products & strong service/solution business, as well as the powerful sales forces of both parties.
Daikin’s long term product development aims for an appropriate response to environmental issues such as energy savings and refrigerant regulations, both of which play an important role within the entire EU.
2. Daikin Airconditioning Central Europe HandelsgmbH: Advanced climate control products and services for 14 countries in Central and South Eastern Europe (Albania, Austria, Bosnia Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia & Slovenia.)
Daikin Airconditioning Central Europe HandelsgmbH, located in Vienna, Austria, is the Daikin regional headquarters for Central & South Eastern Europe and consolidated home to more than 120 employees. Daikin Central Europe was established in 1999 and over the years has grown into the most advanced comfort climate seller in its territory.
A comprehensive range of heating, air conditioning and refrigeration products and systems for residential, commercial and industrial applications is produced and supplied from the Ostend plant in Belgium, supported by two factories in the Czech Republic. Daikin Central Europe will enjoy sales of more than 90 mio EUR in 2008.
Daikin Hungary, located in Budapest, is a 100% owned sales subsidiary of Daikin Airconditioning Central Europe HandelsgmbH.
McQuay-Szanyo, located in Budapest, was established in 1998 as a joint venture between the McQuay group and the Szanyo group. As exclusive distributor of the entire McQuay product range, the company developed into one of the leading players on the Hungarian HVAC market.
Szanyo-Szerviz, an air-conditioning device repair & maintenance service provider also located in Budapest, was established in 2003 as a privately owned company. Country-wide service is provided by experienced and skilled service engineers.
3. Merger of all three companies
In the future Daikin plans to merge McQuay Szanyo, Daikin Hungary and Szanyo-Szerviz into one strong company.
The extended product range offers DX systems from small split units up to the full range of VRV III systems.
Applied systems will offer the full range of scroll-, screw-, and centrifugal chillers up to 9 MW, combined with all types of FCU and AHU.
The Altherma heat pump system will be the core product of the heating segment.
In the field of refrigeration technologies, commercial condensing units,
Conveni-Pack systems, supermarket compressor racks and industrial condensing units will be offered.
