Daikin continues to invest in its German heat pump factory

Press Information, March 2021

By investing in its German heat pump factory Daikin is demonstrating its commitment to make Europe a climate-neutral economy by 2050.

Brussels, March 2021 – The coronavirus crisis has not prevented Daikin, the market leader in air conditioning and a reliable provider of heating solutions, from continuing to invest in Europe. To meet the growing demand, Daikin Europe is adding a production line in the Daikin Manufacturing Germany GmbH (DMGG) factory in order to build even more hydronic heat pumps.

An increase in production capacity in Germany to meet EU demand

This new production line will enable Daikin to produce wall-mounted indoor heat pump units used in several product ranges such as Daikin Altherma 3, high and low temperatures heat pumps to name but a few. Approximately 20,000 units will be produced by end of 2021, and Daikin is expected to expand further in the coming years. To make this possible, the DMGG factory has already increased the number of employees by 37 % since October 2020. By increasing its production capacity in Germany, Daikin aims to strengthen its footprint in Europe’s leading manufacturing hub for heat pumps and contribute to Europe's energy transition.

‘Made in Europe’ for a greener future

The fact that the systems for Europe are also developed and produced in Europe has always been of paramount importance to Daikin. German production is fully integrated within Daikin’s manufacturing strategy and distribution across the European markets. Daikin advocates “Made in Europe” to further strengthen its commitment to the European Green Deal and to National Climate Plans in Europe.

Patrick Crombez, General Manager Heating and Renewables at Daikin Europe: “We do not let the Covid-19 pandemic distract us from our objective. Step by step, we are reaching the goal to become a leading player in the heating sector by continuously promoting heat pumps as a renewable solution/alternative.”

The story of Daikin’s German factory DMGG

The Daikin Manufacturing Germany Gmbh factory was born after re-branding Rotex Products into Daikin in 2020.

  • Daikin Airconditioning Germany GmbH and ROTEX Heating Systems GmbH announced integration of sales, marketing and services activities earlier in 2020.
  • Heating products manufactured by ROTEX have been Daikin-branded since 1 January 2020.
  • Through this integration, Daikin aims to expand its European production and innovation network.
