Daikin Applied Europe (Italy) joined the L∞p by Daikin circular economy program and claims to be using up to 400,000 kg of reclaimed refrigerant R134a and R410A per year at its heat pump and chiller plant in Cecchina near Rome.
Vienna, February 2022 – The L∞p by Daikin circular economy program was first launched by Daikin Europe in 2019 with the use of reclaimed R410A for the VRV series produced and sold in Europe. Now the scheme has been adopted for R134a, the reclaimed gas being recovered and reclaimed in line with the international standard AHRI700 to better than 99.5% purity.

Thereby the program ensures the continued availability of R134a and avoids its environmentally and financially costly end-of-life destruction. Furthermore, as reclaimed refrigerant it is not included in the European F-gas quota system.
Daikin chillers using reclaimed refrigerant R134a
Daikin Applied Europe uses a blend of certified R134a reclaimed refrigerant and virgin refrigerant in the following selected chillers which makes a substantial difference to the environmental footprint of the company and of Daikin customers:

Long tradition of careful use of resources
Since 1980 Daikin is reusing waste materials like metal, copper and aluminium in its production facilities. Overall Daikin units are in average made of 80 % reusable materials. They have a long life-cycle and spare parts are even available 10 years after the end of production. Combined with service packages the unit’s life-time is extended.
