Daikin Europe makes donation for humanitarian aid in Ukrainian refugee crisis

Daikin Europe will donate 1 million Euro to the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) in order to provide humanitarian aid to the people in Ukraine and those suffering displacement as a result of the conflict in Ukraine.

 

Brussels, Vienna, March 2022 - As a global group with operations in more than 160 countries and nearly 90,000 employees, Daikin believes in the importance of protecting the safety and health of its employees and their families around the world.

On behalf of the Daikin group, Daikin Europe has recently decided to donate 1 million Euro to UNHCR, which provides protection and assistance to the people of Ukraine. Daikin will also be donating products for refugee accommodation and educational facilities. 

 

In addition, Daikin Europe employees will raise funds to support their Ukrainian colleagues and their families. Furthermore Daikin Central Europe made 35,000 Euro available to humanitarian organisations in Austria, Czech Republic, Romania, Hungary, and Moldova.

Masatsugu Minaka, Senior Executive Officer of Daikin Industries and Chairman of the Board of Daikin Europe said: “Daikin Europe has more than 1,000 Ukrainian employees working at our two factories in the Czech Republic and many more across our group. We are heartbroken by the difficult situation in their home country and hope that a peaceful and safe world will return as soon as possible. Daikin will continue to monitor the situation closely and ensure the safety and security of our employees, as well as cooperate with humanitarian relief efforts.”

Daikin’s entities in Europe have suspended business in Russia in consideration of the current economic situation and logistics.

    Vienna, February 2022 – Daikin Applied Europe (Italy) joined the L∞p by Daikin circular economy program and claims to be using up to 400,000 kg of reclaimed refrigerant R134a per year at its heat pump and chiller plant in Cecchina near Rome. The program was first launched by Daikin Europe in 2019 with the use of reclaimed R410A for the VRV series produced and sold in Europe. Now the scheme has been adopted for R134a, the reclaimed gas being recovered and reclaimed in line with the international standard AHRI700 to better than 99.5% purity.
  • Daikin Europe invests in new sheet metal line for its plant in Ostend (Belgium)

    Brussels, February 2022 – Belgian factory gears up to meet growing demand for sustainable heating solutions. Daikin Europe NV invests in a new sheet metal line and a fully automated die warehouse for its factory in Ostend, Belgium. The new sheet metal line allows to increase production capacity at the plant while improving safety on the factory floor. The investment is part of Daikin’s Fusion 2025 plan to strengthen the company’s manufacturing abilities in the EMEA region and fulfil the growing demand for sustainable heating solutions such as heat pumps.
