Brunn am Gebirge, May 2015 _ DAIKIN has enhanced its small scroll inverter chiller and heat pump range with the launch of a new split version for comfort cooling and process applications. Offering exceptional flexibility and ease of installation, the compact dimensions, limited pipework and modular design of the new split system makes it the ideal solution for restricted spaces, while a separate glycol-free indoor hydrobox ensures high operating efficiencies even in the coldest of climates.

Based on DAIKIN´s advanced inverter technology, the new small scroll inverter series extends the versatility of the company’s existing small chiller and heat pump range. Available in four sizes from 20 to 64 kW, the new small scroll inverter split heat pump offers a maximum cooling capacity of 74.3 kW. Supplied as two individual boxes, the SERHQ outdoor unit and SEHVX hydrobox can be combined as required on site. The modular design and minimal pipework provides additional freedom of layout where space is limited or for complex sites. Fitting into a standard lift, the units can also be transported easily and moved into place without any special lifting requirements.

Unique design

DAIKIN´s small scroll inverter heat pump offers all the advantages of continual temperature control in cold climates, with the unique functions of DAIKIN VRV design innovation. The new unit has the ability to precisely control the flow of refrigerant from the evaporation stage into the compression stage using a series of small valves. A critical component of the new heat pump is a “scroll compressor,” which uses a rotating, scroll-shaped mechanism to compress the refrigerant. Domestic heat pumps normally use reciprocating compressors, in which a piston compresses refrigerant.

The new DAIKIN small scroll inverter split system is unique in featuring a separate hydrobox for indoor installation. The SEHVX hydronic evaporation unit requires no glycol in the water circuit, allowing the system to operate in colder climates withstanding freezing temperatures. DAIKIN Product manager Giannicola Mignogna said “Creating the perfect indoor climate is what DAIKIN units are all about. These units combine the best of DAIKIN innovation to discreetly create a comfortable atmosphere that is energy efficient and affordable.”

Easy installation

The latest unit provides ‘off the shelf convenience’ in terms of simple design and easy configuration while offering an integrated solution that can be scaled to suit a mixed range of buildings and multiple room usage. The narrow design of the new hydrobox means it can be fitted into the smallest of spaces, while insulation of the internal water supply pipes removes the risk of unwanted moisture by eliminating condensation during cooling.

With one of the highest European seasonal efficiency ratings (ESEER) in its class and an operating efficiency coefficient (COP) of 3, this new scroll inverter heat pump is not only versatile but offers outstanding energy efficiency with high levels of comfort.
