Why has Daikin introduced R-32 models?
The Global Warming Potential (GWP) of R-32 is only 675. Only one third compared to a commonly used refrigerant such as R-410A. Thanks to the lower flammability classification (R-32 falls into the class A2L category in ISO817), it can be safely used in many applications - chilled water systems included. Then, as a single component refrigerant, it can be easily recycled and reused - another environmental plus in its favour.
Why choose R-32 refrigerant
As a matter of fact, R-32 refrigerant is considered the most balanced refrigerant in terms of Environmental Impact, Energy Efficiency, Safety and Cost-Effectiveness for AC and Heat Pump equipment.

R-32 has zero Ozone Depletion Potential, while its GWP (Global Warming Potential) is 675, one-third lower than R-410A. It can reduce the charging volume by 30% compared to R-410A. All that can result in a 76% decrease in CO2 emissions compared to conventional technology.
R-32 can be easily recycled. It can be recovered during maintenance operations and then reused.
Energy and cost efficiency
Because R-32 efficiently conveys heat, it can significantly reduce electricity consumption compared to equipment using R-410A.
R-32 is easy and inexpensive to install and maintain in time, it allow for compact cost-efficient designs and minimizes overall investment costs reducing systems’ operations and maintenance costs.
R-32 is non-toxic and is classified as a Class A2L (Low flammable) refrigerant as per the International Standard ISO817:2014
ISO 817:2014 segregates the flammability of refrigerants into 4 categories:
Class 1 (no flame propagation), Class A2L (Lower flammability), Class 2 (Flammable) and Class 3 (higher flammability).
