FEI researches, develops and manufactures electron-, ion- and light-microscopes and the software to support them.
The multi-national company’s base in Brno has 600 employees who collaborate with two of the region’s top technical universities.
Microscopes are highly sensitive, so the HVAC system chosen not only had meet the demands of offices, laboratories and the manufacturing plant, but also had to be very quiet and produce minimal vibrations during operation.
FEI chose Daikin because it could supply all the equipment meeting these strict criteria. A VRV system controls the office climate, while four large chillers provide process cooling for the laboratories and manufacturing facilities. Heating and cooling to the offices is provided by a mix of Roundflow and Fully Flat ceiling cassettes.
An added benefit was that, as all the equipment was supplied by Daikin, it could be integrated easily into the facility’s building management system. This system includes floor and occupancy sensors, which can adjust room temperatures to match use, reducing energy use, improving system efficiency and lowering running costs.
