DAIKIN Emura wins reddot award 2014 for product design

Brunn am Gebirge, May 2014_Daikin Emura has won the world-renowned 2014 reddot award for product design in the air conditioning category, confirming its status as an icon of contemporary climate control.

The annual reddot awards are judged by an international jury of design experts, who assess products on a number of criteria, including aesthetics, innovation, functionality and their environmental credentials, as well as quality, ergonomics and durability. This year’s awards were contested by 4,815 products, entered by 1,816 designers, manufacturers and architects from 53 countries.

Designed in Europe, to satisfy a uniquely European aesthetic, the awarded Daikin Emura has an aerodynamic and incredibly thin profile that makes a modern design statement on any wall. Innovative compressor technology delivers efficiencies of up to A+++, combined with minimal sound levels as low as 19dBA. Commenting on the award, Carl Lievens, Managing Director at Daikin Central Europe, said: “This award demonstrates just how well the new Daikin Emura blends elegant design with state-of-the-art technology. Its stylish silhouette, quality materials and exceptional finish are matched by equally outstanding efficiency levels.”

Daikin Emura, available in silver/anthracite or pure matt white, can also be remotely controlled via an app (“Online Controller”), which is available for both Apple and Android systems. An intelligent presence sensor saves energy when a room is empty and directs air flow to avoid cold draughts, reducing power consumption dramatically, compared with other air conditioning units.
