DAIKIN’s enhanced range of refrigeration condensing units: Improved efficiency, reduced noise and Ecodesign compliance

Brunn am Gebirge, August 2014_Daikin has launched the first part of an enhanced range of commercial refrigeration units. Designed for small capacity retail refrigeration applications, the units are ideal for use with cold stores, pubs, hotels, butchers, bakeries and similar locations demanding reliable cooling at medium temperatures. A wide range of compressor options allows selection of the optimum configuration for multiple refrigerant requirements.

Based on the existing range of commercial refrigeration condensing units, the new range inherits its predecessor’s proven component reliability, even in the most demanding environments. Depending on the capacity range, the units are executed with either scroll or reciprocating compressor technology. The new units feature high levels of energy efficiency, thanks to the use of optimised compressors and a micro-channel heat exchanger. The latter increases condenser capacity and lowers the condensation temperature,. In addition, the refrigerant content is reduced which is an important add on in view of the new F-gas regulation.

Operating temperatures range from -15°C to +43°C (ambient), with MT evaporating temperatures between -20°C and +10°C. Improved design of the fan wings, coupled with sound insulation in the compressor segment, mean that the units have very low noise levels, making them ideal for urban locations, particularly near residential areas.

For installers, the units have been designed to be lightweight and compact. Easy access is provided through hinged doors to both mechanical and electrical components making installation and maintenance straightforward. To increase installation location options, the units have been designed to be aesthetically pleasing and have a weather-resistant housing.

The new range of commercial refrigeration units is fully compliant with the upcoming Energy Related Products Directive (formerly: Eco Design Directive), which enters into force in Jan. 2015.
