Daikin hits a home run at World Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan

Press release, April 2025

Osaka, April 2025 – At the World Expo 2025 Osaka, which opened on 13 April, Daikin is hitting a home run, right by its global headquarters. The theme "Designing Future Society for Our Lives" resonates strongly with Daikin’s mission to provide a comfortable climate to people and contribute to a bright, sustainable future with its innovative technologies.

Air shaping our future

For over 100 years, it has been Daikin's mission to perfect the use of air for the well-being of people.

At the World Expo 2025 Osaka, the company is showcasing in various ways how Daikin is making the theme of comfort through air beneficial for society in the future. Find here what visitors can expect from Daikin:

Enjoy Japanese mountain air while dining at the SUIKUU restaurant with innovative Daikin technologies including:

  • Daikin's unique ‘ceiling-supplied displacement ventilation air conditioning’.
  • ‘Heat recovery ventilation’, the standard for restaurants of the future.
  • World premiere of the ‘Thermometer of the Future’.
  • ‘Dining That Travels Through Air’ allowing guests to enjoy a meal with comfortable air, recreating real-life spots from around the world.

Take a break from crowded places with relaxing comfort in the sustainably designed rest area of the Ice Cool Spot, inspired by traditional icehouses that stored ice throughout the year. This next-generation ‘ice thermal outdoor cool spot’ utilizes Daikin's ice thermal storage technology and solar energy to cool spaces with minimal energy requirements:

  • Electricity generated by solar panels is stored in a storage battery.
  • Some of the electricity from the battery is used to make ice at night when it is cooler outside.
  • The rest area is cooled using radiant cooling from ice made the night before

Enjoy air and water spectacles at largest show area in Expo history:

  • During the evening: Amazing show ‘Under the Midnight Rainbow’ featuring water, air, light, fire, video and music, sponsored by Daikin and Suntory.
  • During daytime: Three ultimate shows are offered to entertain visitors: The ‘AR Parade of Air and Water’ and the ‘Symphony of Air and Water’ featuring approximately 300 fountains and music. At the ‘Synchronization of Air and Water’ show the race for a new Guiness World Record is set for visitors to interact with the fountains and control them.

For visitors from remote locations the Osaka-based companies Daikin and Suntory provide virtual experiences at the Virtual Expo 2025 Japan:

  • The Water Showroom offers an immersive experience of water and air within the enchanted world of the "Under the Midnight Rainbow" water show, recreated for online visitors at the Yumeshima venue. Interactive elements enable visitors to participate in the story. By joining Ao, the main character, and her sidekick Dodo, the spirit of air and water, they can immerse themselves in being an island resident and gain a greater understanding of the importance of the bonds between water, air, and life. In doing so, they also learn how Daikin and Suntory view water and air as essential elements for a sustainable future.
  • The Daikin Room offers two additional VR exhibits where people can experience the importance and possibilities of air firsthand: Visitors to Daikin Air Island are set on an enchanted island where invisible air becomes visible. They can experience the various types of air created by Daikin, including ‘air quality that improves exercise’ and ‘air that promotes mental concentration.’ In the Daikin air factory, visitors join Pichonkun on a paper airplane and playfully experience how comfortable air is delivered to the world.
