In a bid to enhance both comfort and sustainability, Daikin, a global leader in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) solutions, has recently unveiled a pioneering initiative at a renowned museum nestled in the heart of Venice, Italy. Four cutting-edge EWWQ-G heat pumps have been seamlessly integrated to cater to the museum's diverse heating and cooling requirements.
The ambitious project aimed to supplant outdated machinery with state-of-the-art heat pumps boasting reversible capabilities on the hydronic circuit. This innovation allows for the simultaneous fulfillment of heating and cooling needs within the museum premises, all the while significantly boosting energy efficiency through advanced heat recovery mechanisms.
Conquering challenges
Addressing the client's imperative for enhanced energy performance, Daikin embarked on a meticulous analysis of the museum's prior HVAC systems. By meticulously scrutinizing past energy consumption patterns, tailored specifications for the new machinery were formulated, ensuring optimal efficiency and substantial operational cost savings.
Furthermore, recognizing the need for heightened oversight and control, the client mandated the development of a robust Building Management System (BMS) and Energy Management System (EMS). These systems would enable continuous monitoring and management of the newly installed infrastructure.
Innovative solutions unveiled
Responding to these challenges with characteristic innovation, Daikin unveiled a comprehensive BMS and EMS supervision system. This sophisticated platform meticulously tracks and transmits vital data, empowering the client with real-time insights into energy consumption and system performance.
The anticipated benefits of this pioneering initiative are staggering. It is projected that the installation of the new heat pumps will yield a remarkable 34% improvement in energy savings annually compared to their antiquated counterparts. Moreover, an estimated reduction of 78 tons of CO2 emissions per year underscores the profound environmental impact of this endeavour.
Compact design, uncompromising efficiency
An often-overlooked aspect of the project was the spatial constraints posed by the museum's infrastructure. With the available installation space at a premium, Daikin faced the formidable challenge of designing units that could seamlessly integrate into the existing heating plant.
Undeterred, Daikin's engineering prowess shone through, as the compact yet powerful units from the EWWQ-G Series proved to be the perfect solution. Remarkably, these units, while boasting unparalleled capacity and efficiency, were compact enough to be housed within a modest 13-square-meter room, thereby ensuring a seamless integration process.
In essence, Daikin's transformative intervention not only heralds a new era of climate control at this iconic museum but also serves as a testament to the company's unwavering commitment to innovation, sustainability, and client satisfaction.
