DAIKIN: Cool at work

Well-being, concentration levels, even critical thinking are all influenced by temperature. DAIKIN air conditioning provides the best solutions for an optimal indoor climate.

Vienna, August 4th, 2017 – “The heat wilts and enervates me and makes me sick”, said John Langdon Sibley, librarian at Harvard University, back in the 19th century. Not much has changed since then. Complaints regarding the heat in summertime are still plentiful. Yet everything has changed since then as we now have the option of air conditioning.

The positive effects of an optimal indoor climate on health, well-being and productivity have been well documented. Numerous scientific studies have proven that the ideal temperature varies depending on the environment. Bedrooms, for example, should be cool at 18 to 19° C when you are trying to sleep. Depending on their location within buildings, offices should have a temperature ranging from 22 to 25° C, with 50% humidity.

Scientists at Cornell University found once the room temperature dropped below 22° C, 44% of employees made more mistakes. Temperatures above 25° C, on the other hand, led to a decrease in well-being and motivation, eventually followed by higher levels of absence and sick leave. A proof that temperatures should range in between 22° C and 25° C to ensure a perfect working environment.

A task easily fulfilled by making use of DAIKINS control solutions such as the DAIKIN Online Controller. This application allows users to monitor the status of the air conditioner and even to consult energy consumption graphs1 as well as to control temperature, fan speed, airflow direction and other special functions (eg.: air purification).

“When it comes to well-being and motivation, we are no longer dependent on external factors”, said Alexander Dalinger, General Manager – Marketing & Corporate Communications at DAIKIN Central Europe. “Air conditioning by DAIKIN provides everybody with the optimal indoor climate. And the DAIKIN Online Controller application allows to control multiple units at once directly from a smartphone, at any time, from any place and thereby creating perfect climate for individual needs.”
