Daikin Altherma 4 H unveiled: cutting-edge air-to-water heat pump with unmatched performance, safety and smart control

Press release, December 2024

Vienna, December 2024 – Daikin Europe is proud to introduce Daikin Altherma 4 H, its first range of residential heat pumps with R-290 (propane) refrigerant designed for single and multifamily homes. The Daikin Altherma 4 H boasts an exceptional performance, providing hot water up to 75°C and operating down to -28°C. Rated A+++ for space heating energy efficiency, its superior performance and compatibility with existing heat-emitter systems make it a top choice for low carbon heating for both installers and end-users.

Exceptional performance for all weather conditions

The Daikin Altherma 4 H delivers exceptional performance in all weather conditions, including extreme cold down to -28°C, ensuring reliable comfort year-round. With an energy label of A+++ for space heating and up to A+ for domestic hot water, this residential heat pump novelty guarantees low operating costs and energy efficiency.

The Daikin Altherma 4 H industry-leading heating capacity allows for the heat pump to deliver hot water up to 75°C. The largest available unit at 14 kW produces a heating output of 13.3 kW even at an ambient temperature of -7°C, with a leaving water temperature (LWT) setting of 55°C. This makes it the best performing residential heat pump of its kind in the market today.

Energy efficient hot water up to 75°C also means the unit can easily support traditional hot water radiator heating emitters and offers a perfect low carbon alternative to gas boilers in renovation projects

Made in Europe – for Europe

All Daikin's residential heat pumps, including Daikin Altherma 4 H, are designed and made in Europe. The outdoor units are produced in Daikin’s new factory in Lodz, Poland, while the indoor units of the heat pump system are produced in the Czech Republic and Germany. This ensures high quality, fast delivery, and quick support. In 2024, Daikin is Europe’s leading hydronic heat pump manufacturer with over 1,300,000 units sold since 2006*.

Designed for comfort and efficiency

Silent operation

In addition to its remarkable heating capacity, Daikin Altherma 4 H operates quietly to enhance customer comfort, reaching just 28 dBA at a distance of 3 meters.

Easy installation and operation

The Daikin Altherma 4 H has an ergonomically positioned PCB (printed circuit board), and factory-mounted components like anti-freeze valves and ambient temperature sensors. The unit also features a new, intuitive interface that simplifies heat pump setup and is prepared for connectivity, allowing installers to perform remote parameter settings without the need for an on-site visit. End users can monitor the unit’s energy consumption and adjust home temperature using the Daikin Onecta app.

Guaranteed safety thanks to unique safety components

Daikin is committed to ensuring its products can be safely handled throughout their lifecycle, from product development to unit installation and operation.

The Daikin Altherma 4 H runs on R-290 (propane) refrigerant, which has a near zero Global Warming Potential (GWP), but which is highly flammable. Dedicated Daikin safety components, such as a gas separator preventing refrigerant exposure or anti-freeze valves for protection against freezing, guarantee full safety during unit transport, installation, maintenance, and operation.

Dedicated training programs for installers

Additionally, Daikin offers extensive training for installers to ensure high-quality installation of the Daikin Altherma 4 H with R-290, as well as commissioning, maintenance, and repair. These training sessions, available through the Stand By Me – Certified Partner platform, are part of Daikin’s maximum safety policy for handling flammable refrigerants in residential environments.

Stand by Me – Certified Partner Program is open to all installers. For more information about the program, visit https://www.sbm-cp.daikin.eu/

In line with Daikin's global refrigerant strategy, Daikin offers alternative residential heat pumps with low flammable refrigerant R-32 for those installation scenarios where propane cannot be used.
