Bratislava, April 2024 – The Dual Academy, the private vocational school for the automotive sector in Bratislava, has expanded its educational offerings in close collaboration with Daikin Slovakia: The grand opening of the unique new training centre for future technologies marks a new era of vocational training, aimed at bringing sought-after professionals in the fields of heating and cooling technology, as well as renewable energy, into the job market.
Students from the Dual Academy and participants in requalification courses can learn on one of the largest hydraulic walls in the CE region. This new educational offer supports practical training for heating and cooling applications within a 4-year program. The first two years focus on general education, while the last two years foster the technical skills for the heating and cooling industry. Graduates thereby become sought-after professionals to drive the decarbonization of buildings and other applications.
Great interest at the opening
The opening of the training centre was attended by more than 130 guests, including representatives from the Slovak government, industry and the media. Among them were Kamil Šaško, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic, Branislav Ondruš, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family of the Slovak Republic, Róbert Zsembera, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic, as well as the Mayor of Devínská Nová Ves, Dárius Krajčír.
Speakers included the President of the Dual Academy, Renata Valeková, the Member of the Board of Directors of Volkswagen Slovakia, Kai-Stefan Linnenkohl, the Chairman of the Employers' Council for Vocational Education and Training, Andrej Hutta, and Vladimír Orovnický, Managing Director of Daikin Slovakia and President of the Slovak Association for Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heat Pumps.

Skills for decarbonisation
“Today, there is a lack of qualified heat pump installers to achieve the ambitious goals of decarbonizing buildings and processes. Therefore, Daikin Slovakia, together with the Dual Academy Slovakia, has developed an unparalleled training center for heating and cooling systems as well as renewable energy.
For students, it is a unique offering in the CE region providing not only a solid vocational education but also requalification courses to empower new professionals for the HAVC industry. With this, we aim to contribute to a skilled labor market and create new career opportunities for heat pump installers” says Vladimír Orovnický.
The new secondary vocational trainings centre is also part of the Daikin Central Europe Academy, a comprehensive trainings offer for Daikin employees and Daikin partners in the CE-region.
