Heating for every need: Daikin Altherma 4 H now available in 4, 6 and 7 kW capacity classes

Press release, December2025

Product news / Vienna, 5 December2025 With the new capacity classes of 4, 6 and 7 kW, Europe’s leading hydronic heat pump manufacturer*) expands its air-to-water heat pump series Daikin Altherma 4 H, covering a complete performance range from 4 to 14 kW. This provides suitable solutions for a wide variety of applications, from new builds to renovations.

The hydrosplit units with the natural refrigerant propane (R-290) enable particularly energy-efficient operation. With energy efficiency ratings of up to A+++ for heating and up to A+ for domestic hot water, the series represents a future-proof and economical heating technology based on renewable energy. Sales of the new Daikin Altherma 4 H capacity classes will start in January 2026.

From renovation to new buildings

The Daikin Altherma 4 H series delivers reliable heating, cooling, and domestic hot water even in extreme conditions, operating down to -28 °C and achieving leaving water temperature of 70˚C without an electric backup heater. This makes it ideal for replacing gas boilers and supporting traditional radiator systems while ensuring year-round comfort. With the new compact sizes, Daikin expands its comprehensive heat pump portfolio also for new-builds – from small apartments to single- and multi-family homes.

Three indoor unit options

Daikin offers maximum flexibility with three indoor unit options: a floor-standing unit with ECH₂O thermal storage, a compact floor-standing unit with low height and integrated domestic hot water tank, and a wall-mounted unit. The unique ECH₂O tank ensures optimal hygiene for domestic and drinking water. All three indoor units are among the lightest in their performance class, making transport, handling, and installation significantly easier.

Compact outdoor unit with optimized design

The Daikin Altherma 4 H 4, 6, and 7 kW outdoor units feature a modern design. With clean lines and a silver-colored housing paired with a matte black front grille featuring curved fins, it fits seamlessly into any setting. The newly designed housing is particularly compact at 1220 x 958 x 535 mm, allowing easy and flexible placement even in smaller spaces. Its low weight of just 109 kg also simplifies transport and installation.

Easy and intuitive control

A 5” color touch screen ensures intuitive control of the Daikin Altherma 4 H on site, including a time manager. With the Daikin Onecta app users are able to monitor the unit’s energy consumption and adjust home temperature settings on a room-by-room basis.

Innovative safety components

The new, smaller capacity classes of the Daikin Altherma 4 H are also equipped with the innovative safety components of the series: these include an integrated refrigerant vessel for safe transport and reliable installation, a newly developed and highly efficient R-290 gas separator, and a fully sealed switch box that prevents refrigerant ingress and ensures a clear separation of electrical and refrigerant circuits.

The compatible wall-mounted and floor-standing indoor units also feature integrated safety functions, providing additional protective mechanisms depending on the model. This safety and efficiency concept is complemented by the Daikin compressor specially developed for R-290. Precisely matched to the thermodynamic properties of propane, it delivers high flow temperatures even at low outdoor temperatures and ensures stable, long-lasting operation.

Installation without refrigerant work indoors

A key advantage of the Daikin Altherma 4 H series is the hydrosplit setup: the refrigerant remains entirely in the outdoor unit, so no work with refrigerant is required inside the building – only the hydraulic connections need to be installed indoors.

Made in Europe for Europe

All air-to-water heat pumps of the Daikin Altherma 4 H series, including the new capacity classes, are developed and manufactured in Europe. Regional production ensures highest EU quality standards as well as short delivery routes and times.
