Sustainable heating for every home: Meet the new, whisper-quiet Daikin Altherma 4 H

Press release, September 2025

Product news / Vienna, 15 September 2025 – Daikin’s new Altherma 4 H combines over a century of Japanese innovation with European design and manufacturing. It’s a future-ready heating solution tailored to the needs and lifestyles of today’s families and homes. Using the natural refrigerant R-290, this next generation air-to-water heat pump sets a new benchmark in energy efficiency, sustainability, quiet operation and comfort, making it the ideal choice for both new builds and renovation projects.

Saving energy bills and driving EU decarbonisation plans

Buildings account for around 40% of the EU’s total energy consumption, making the heating and cooling sector a key focus in the journey towards Europe’s decarbonization.1) Sustainable heating and cooling will also play a central role in National Building Renovation Plans,2) which all EU countries must submit to the European Commission by end of 2025.

That’s where sustainable solutions like the Daikin Altherma 4 H come in: Whether renovating an older home or planning a new build, choosing an energy-efficient heat pump system like the Daikin Altherma 4 H – for heating, cooling and hot water supply – helps reduce the carbon footprint of homes and occupant’s energy bills. With top-tier efficiency of up to A+++, whisper-quiet operation, and reliable year-round performance, it’s a future-ready solution that brings comfort and sustainability together.

Flexibly for any application

The Daikin Altherma 4 H heat pump system provides heating, hot water and optional cooling for added comfort.

Renovation: It is suitable for unrenovated properties up to 178 m² and renovated buildings up to 296 m². Since hot water temperatures of up to 75 °C can be generated, the heat pump can be combined with existing radiators and serves as an ideal alternative to conventional gas or oil heating systems. With the natural refrigerant R-290, it also supports sustainability goals while ensuring high efficiency and low environmental impact.

New build: Ideal for detached and semi-detached houses, apartment buildings, and new builds up to 590 m², it delivers reliable heating all year round – with optional cooling for added comfort. Its standard configuration supports up to 410 m², making it suitable for 5-10 residential units or 5-30 occupants. The system pairs perfectly with underfloor heating, heat pump convectors or radiators, features a stylish and whisper-quiet outdoor unit, and ensures low running costs with easy installation.

Made in Europe for Europe

“All Daikin residential heat pumps, including the new Daikin Altherma 4 H, are designed and manufactured in Europe. The outdoor units are produced at Daikin’s state-of-the-art factory in Łódź, Poland, while the indoor units are assembled in the Czech Republic and Germany. This European production ensures high quality standards, fast delivery, and quick support for customers across the region.” Seref Isildak, General Manager Strategic Business Unit Residential at Daikin Central Europe.

Daikin’s commitment to innovation is backed by a strong R&D footprint in Europe, including its European Development Center (EDC) for heat pump and refrigeration technology in Ghent, Belgium.
