Lowering the carbon footprint through ERA-A, Daikin’s new range of condensing units on refrigerant R-32

Press release, January 2025

Vienna, January 2025 – Daikin’s new ERA-A range of condensing units offers all the benefits of the predecessor ERQ series while utilizing the lower Global Warming Potential (GWP) refrigerant R-32. Thereby the solution helps reducing CO2 emissions of HVAC systems for commercial or industrial premises.

An excellent addition for fresh air supply

The ERA-A condensing units can be connected to air curtains and direct expansion (DX) air handling units (AHUs) for fresh air and air recirculation applications. The complete solution ensures that air flowing into indoor spaces is pretreated accordingly to provide optimum air comfort in rooms of all sizes – from small restaurants to large commercial and industrial buildings.

For installers and consultants seeking smarter, more efficient and lower carbon solutions, the new ERA-A condensing units with R-32 refrigerant set a new standard. Designed to simplify installation and enhance performance across various applications, this new range combines advanced technology with versatility and sustainability. It enables HVAC professionals and facility managers to achieve exceptional results while meeting the highest energy efficiency and environmental requirements.

Key product benefits

  • Energy efficiency: ERA-A units are equipped with Daikin’s energy-saving inverter technology that optimizes power usage, reduces operating costs, and promotes energy conservation.
  • Advanced comfort control: By responding quickly and reliably to temperature fluctuations, ERA-units ensure a consistent and comfortable environment. These benefits make them ideal for commercial spaces that require dependable climate control.
  • Versatile applications and scalability: The ERA-A range supports diverse applications, including fresh air handling and recirculation, suitable for air curtains and direct expansion (DX) air handling units. It offers flexible capacity options (6.3 to 30 kW) that can be combined in multiple circuits (up to 120 kW).
  • For greater flexibility, a wide range of control methods for recirculation and fresh air applications is available in the common control box.
  • By using refrigerant R-32, which has a significantly lower GWP compared to R-410a, the carbon footprint is reduced.
  • As ERA-A units are connected to factory mounted controls of Daikin air handling units they provide a complete fresh air solution meeting all requirements with regards to regulations, compliance and reliability. The updated F-Gas regulation allows the maintenance of HVAC equipment until end of its life, valid for any application with the refrigerant R-410a or R-32. However, from 2032, R-410a units may only be serviced with recycled and reclaimed R-410a.

Notice on availability

1 and 3 phase condensing units for smaller capacities (4-6 HP), namely ERA-AV & ERA-AY, 3 phase condensing units for higher capacities (6-12 HP, namely ERA-AYF, are available for sale since January 2025.
